History
When Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was established in 1962, a satellite campus was opened at Hisar. After formation of Haryana, it was declared as an autonomous institution. It was established as a university by Haryana and Punjab Agricultural Universities Act, ratified February 2, 1970 and was named as Haryana Agricultural University.On 31 October 1991, it was renamed as Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University. A. L. Fletcher was the first Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The four constituent colleges of PAU located at Hisar, namely, College of Agriculture, College of Basic Sciences, College of Animal Sciences and College of Veterinary Sciences became a part of Haryana Agricultural University.College of Home Sciences was added in 1973 and College of Agricultural Engineering was added in 1992. A regional campus of the university was opened at Kaul in 1971.
In 2010, College of Veterinary Sciences and College of Animal Sciences were separated from the university and became a part of the newly formedLala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LLRUVAS).
